Using Steel Targets at the ISRA Range

Guidelines

  1. The use of steel targets at the ISRA Range is acceptable when safe targets and methods are used.
  2. A safe target conforms to known standards when manufactured and is in an acceptable state of wear.

Rules

  1. Steel targets at the ISRA Range are for use with approved classes only.
  2. The use of steel targets at the ISRA Range must be done under the guidance and supervision of a qualified instructor.
  3. The minimum distance for steel target placement from the firing line is 100 yards for centerfire rifle and shotgun slugs, 10 yards for centerfire pistol, birdshot, buckshot, rimfire rifle and rimfire pistol
  4. Only targets meetings the standards stated within this document may be used.
  5. Targets showing chips, cracks, or failed welds in the shooting face or mounting area may not be used.
  6. Targets must have a Brinell Hardness of AR550 or better for centerfire rifle or slugs.
  7. Targets must have a Brinell Hardness of AR500 or better for rimfire, centerfire pistol, birdshot and buckshot.
