Election Recap

Gun owners made the difference in the 2024 election.

The general election has been won and Donald Trump is the first president since Grover Cleveland to win a second term after losing a first term election.  Just as important is the winning of the U.S. Senate. This means the Supreme Court of the United States will not be “packed” and one or two justices that have been wanting to retire can finally do so.  Those Justices would most likely be Justice Clarence Thomas and Justice Sonia Sotomayor.  The control of the U.S. Senate by Republicans does not mean that the nominees to the United States Supreme Court will not go through a bloody confirmation hearing.

The election of Donald Trump means the weaponization of government bureaucracies, such as the ATF, DOJ, FBI, and a basket full of other alphabet soup agencies will stop.  The problem, of course, is that many of the bureaucrats placed in those agencies will still remain, embedded like ticks.  The ones who are let go will be hired by non-governmental organizations that want to prepare for the 2028 general elections.  They will slither into these NGOs and hide there like a black mamba waiting to strike at freedom-loving people like you and me.

This battle will never be over, but at least we have the opportunity to breathe in freedom for four years.  Stay strong and do not quit the fight.  Remember…get in the fight, stay in the fight and join the ISRA!

Legislative Update

Remember, first veto session runs November 12, 13 and 14.

Second veto session runs November 19, 20 and 21.

I expect we will see several anti-gun bills introduced at veto session.  Stay alert. We will keep you informed.

The most dangerous time for us will be in the lame duck session which will start in January.  We do not have those dates yet, but I will keep you updated and let you know as soon as I get them.

I keep saying…this fight is never over.

Litigation Update

No changes at this time.

The Late, Great P’nut The Squirrel

Last week, New York State officials from the Department of Environment and Conservation raided an animal sanctuary, taking a squirrel named “P’nut” and raccoon named “Fred”.  P’nut was an internet sensation and helped to fund a 350 acre sanctuary farm for rescued animals. Squirrels and raccoons, considered “wildlife”, require a special permit to have in captivity and are not allowed as pets.  However, P’nut was a rescued squirrel. His mother had been run over by a car and P’nut’s caregivers found him, fed him and raised him.  At one point, P’nut was healthy and released into the wild, but returned the next day with a broken bone.  It was obvious to all that both P’nut and Fred had become “captive dependent” and were bonded with the family that rescued them.

The Department of Environment and Conservation, noting P’nut’s online presence, sent 8+ officers to raid the sanctuary farm where P’nut and Fred lived. The officers were there for several hours and made a shambles of everything.  Because the sanctuary’s owners did not have the required paperwork for P’nut and Fred, the two animals were euthanized.  According to the officials, they did this on the grounds that the animals may have had rabies. This, of course, was baloney.

What will we learn from the fate of P’nut the Squirrel and Fred the Raccoon?  We have a case here of government officials who think they are mighty Oz, the Great and Powerful, without a lick of common sense to be found anywhere. In a case of literal bureaucratic over-kill, their intent was to crush the owner of P’nut and Fred to make an example of them.

I do give P’nut credit, however.  He did bite one of the officers.  It’s too bad he wasn’t a vampire!

What we can learn from this is how dangerous government can be against individual citizens when governing becomes a power trip. This is why we have a Constitution. This is why liberals hate the Constitution and want to “pack” the Supreme Court.  We should all take this lesson to heart!

Learning The Hard Way

Country singer Jay Allen, who you might not be familiar with, learned a valuable lesson about gun ownership and the Second Amendment. Allen, who is acquainted with the Biden family, was probably anti-gun (although I am just guessing and do not know that for sure).

Despite being a strong guy covered in tattoos, Allen was robbed at gunpoint.  Allen stated that the robber had a gun and that he did not.  He felt taken advantage of and helpless.  So, since that incident, Allen made the decision to purchase a firearm and receive further training.  Mr. Allen learned the hard way but this is a good lesson for all of us!

This incident reminds me of the old joke – What is a conservative gun owner?  The answer – A former liberal who got mugged.

Tidbits

November 7, 1944Franklin D.Roosevelt wins an unprecedented 4th term to become the longest serving president in U.S. History. Up until that time, Presidents voluntarily stepped down after two terms.  Roosevelt was in ill health, the stress of World War II taking a toll on him. He dies in April 1945 and was succeeded by Harry Truman.  In 1951, the 22nd Amendment was passed which limited the President to 2 terms.

November 8, 1895 – German physicist, Wilhelm Rontgen, discovered the x-ray.  Although it was an accidental find by Rontgen, he won the Nobel Prize for his discovery.

November 10, 1775 – The Continental Congress authorizes 2000 Marines to serve as landing forces in the newly formed Continental Navy. Happy birthday United States Marines!

November 10, 1975 – The S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior killing all 29 crew members. The ship was a 730 foot long, iron ore carrier and weighed 13,000 tons.  It was the biggest carrier on the Great Lakes. When the winds of November come early, be careful on the Great Lakes…especially Lake Superior.

November 11, 1918 – World War I ends.  The official end to the war was the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 at 5 a.m. in the morning. At the time, it was celebrated as Armistice Day, but was eventually celebrated in the U.S. As Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all the veterans who served in the United States Armed Services.  It is to you we owe our freedom.  These freedoms we take too lightly these days and, if we are not careful, we will have to pay for them again.  As always, the real currency to pay for these freedoms is blood.

November 13, 1982 – The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated. The memorial contains the names of 57,939 Americans who died in the conflict and is arranged in the order of their death, not rank as it is with most memorials.  It is a moving experience to visit the memorials, but it is particularly moving to find the names of those you knew.
