Call to action – File witness slips opposing HB218

The constant and ridiculous attacks on the 2A rights of law-abiding gun owners have got to stop. Tomorrow morning, HB218 will be heard in committee. We need to make it very clear that Illinois residents are not going to stand for this blatant overreach of governmental authority.

HB218 Amendment 1 attempt to redefine the entire basis of the Consumer Fraud Act by proclaiming that owning, selling, manufacturing, promoting, or marketing a legal firearm is a violation of the Consumer Fraud Act if a bad guy somewhere out in the stratosphere uses the gun for a bad intention.

It is specifically designed to allow the Attorney General to go after manufacturers, dealers, and even private citizens when a criminal misuses a gun.

This amendment, like many others, is being brought forward without any conversations or input from actual FOID-carrying gun owners. When will the members of the General Assembly just stand up and admit their number one goal is to strip every Illinois gun owner of their right to bear arms?
