History’s First Draft
Whoever said news is the first draft of history, got it right. Of course, if you’ve done much writing, first drafts sometimes go out the window with facts turning out to be far different in the end than what was first written.
Right now, we’re watching most of the Democrat establishment endorse Kamala Harris for president. Notably at this writing, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi have not endorsed Kamala Harris. This is going to be an exciting convention for the Democrats. We are already seeing the gun control groups, jumping in and endorsing Kamala Harris. This of course is expected, but it’s also a signal to all the gun owners that this is going to be quite a fight, and we have a lot on the line. As I have often said, politics is not a spectator sport. Spectators after all, have very little, or no part in any game, but they certainly always complain about the outcome, which of course they had no part in controlling.
Now is the time for all good gun owners to come to the aid of the Second Amendment. It is your duty! I know that everyone says this election is the most important election we’ve ever had in modern history. They’re right about that. We certainly can’t do anything about the last election, nor can we do anything about elections in 2028. To make a difference, we have to be involved in this one!
The rise of the radical left to power in Washington DC, is a threat to all of us and our way of life. I urge every gun owner to be involved and stay informed. Gun owners need to put their boots on the ground and help elect program candidates.
Lastly, I would like everyone who is not an ISRA member who is a Second Amendment supporter, to join the Illinois State Rifle Association, right away. We have been carrying the fight for a long time and we will continue to carry the fight, but we need everyone’s help. The best way to do that is to become a member of the ISRA. Critical Pro-Gun Privacy Bill Signed into Law in New Hampshire
Governor Chris Sununu (R) signed HB 1186 which protects firearm purchaser’s privacy into law. Thanks to the tireless work of leading gun rights advocates in the state and the strong support of NRA members, New Hampshire becomes the seventeenth state to protect the privacy of law-abiding gun buyers by prohibiting financial institutions from collecting and misusing their personal information, and more importantly supports the Second Amendment rights. This sets examples for other states to follow suit.
In the Fall of 2022, a Merchant Category Code (MCC) for firearm retailers was implemented by payment processors (such as Visa & Mastercard) and other financial services companies to categorize transactions. This enabled all payment processors and banks to identify, monitor, and collect data on certain types of transactions, specifically firearm sales. Previously, firearm retailers fell under the code for general sporting goods stores or miscellaneous retail.
The outcome of this program is the ability to share all collected firearm retailer MCC data with government authorities and potentially private third parties that may include gun control organizations and anti-gun researchers. This critical legislation protects gun-owners privacy and ensures that bad actors cannot use credit and debit card transactions to create a gun-registry or block cardholders from making gun-related purchases.

The ATA’s Grand American Trapshooting Championships will begin this week in Sparta, Illinois at the World Shooting & Recreational Complex, and is the largest shooting event of its kind. The event kicks off on Thursday July 25th with the A.I.M. Shooting Championship which is for young shooters.
We will be there at the office, Suite 502-503 Commercial Row, Bldg. #5, so stop by and say hello. We will have new tee-shirts, caps and other merchandise available for purchase, and of course membership forms where you can join or renew and enter a daily raffle for shotgun shells, on-the-spot!

July 25, 1945 – U.S. Announces Super Weapon to Soviet Union
President Harry Truman tells Joseph Stalin about a new super weapon. Stalin did not seem that impressed. The reason was because he already knew about it. Russia had its spies in the United States. Their idea was to get into the Pacific War, but since Stalin already knew what the outcome would be, it was an easy decision for him. The Soviet Union’s entry into the second World War also helped Japan decide to surrender. Japan hated the Russians more than they hated the United States and they didn’t want any Soviet troops setting foot on Japanese soil.
July 26, 1947 – The National Security Act Becomes a Reality
President Harry Truman signs the National Security Act. Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union, and the United States were in a struggle to control Europe. A couple of significant parts of the National Security Act was the establishment of the Central Intelligence Agency, and the implementation of the Marshall Plan which gave billions of dollars to Western Europe to rebuild itself, after World War II.
July 26, 1908 – The FBI is Created
In 1908, the Department of Justice hired former Secret Service employees to expand the office of the Chief Examiner. These new agents reported for duty on July 26, 1908. In 1909, the Office of the Chief Examiner was renamed the Bureau of Investigation and had 34 agents.
In 1917, J. Edgar Hoover joined the Department of Justice and became part of the Bureau of Investigation. Hoover set up a card system list of every radical leader, organization, and publication in the United States. By 1921, he had 450,000 files on these organizations and individuals. Remember, this is the long before computers. All these files were created by hand work.
On May 10, 1924, Hoover became acting Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 1935, the Bureau of Investigation became the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or the FBI and its agents were nick-named the G-men.
July 27, 1949 – The First Jet Propelled Airliner Makes Its Debut
The plane was the DeHavilland Comet. The British built plane had 44 seats and could fly 480 miles an hour: A new speed record for an airliner at the time. The problem was that the Comet suffered metal fatigue and a series of crashes forced them to ground the airplane. What the Comet did do, was to force American manufacturers, Boeing and Douglas in particular, to get busy and build jet airliners, or be wiped out of the market.
July 28, 1914 – World War I Starts
Austria-Hungry declares war on Serbia, hastening the start of World War I. Before World War I was over, there were 40 million casualties, and the map of Europe was changed forever.
July 30, 1619 – America’s First Legislators
The House of Burgesses, America’s first legislative assembly convenes in Jamestown, Virginia
July 31, 1777 – An Unpaid U.S. General
The Marquis de Lafayette became a major general in the Continental Army. He received no pay.
July 31, 1975 – Jimmy Hoffa Turns Up Missing
Hoffa was the organizer in the Teamsters Union and became president of the Teamsters in 1957. He worked tirelessly to expand the teamsters throughout the United States and was very popular. He was a successful leader, although sometimes his methods were considered a little on the shady side. People have been looking for Jimmy Hoffa’s body for ages since he disappeared. You aren’t ’gonna find it. My guess is that his body was ground up and became part of a cement footing in some unknown place, never to be found.
