$10 MILLION IN GUN CONTROL SPENDING SCHEME
Newly appointed Senator Natalie Toro who just received a $500,000 donation from Senate President Harmon has filed a new bill (SB2619) to give the Illinois State Police an incremental $10 Million “for grants to law enforcement agency task forces for participating in programs to help reduce crime”
Now how does that relate to gun control?
From the ISP Ban On Commonly Firearms Frequently Asked Questions (Page: 31) “How will this law be enforced?”
“A) Law enforcement agencies, including the ISP, are charged with enforcing the Protect Illinois Communities Act throughout Illinois. ISP will continue to enforce the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act and Article 24 of the Criminal Code of 2012 by partnering with local law enforcement through our Violent Crime Intelligence Task Force. The task force is a collaborative effort to reduce and prevent illegal possession and use of firearms, firearm related homicides, and other violent crimes. All law enforcement officers will have access to the resources the ISP has made available to the public to ensure they are able to identify items regulated by the Protect Illinois Communities Act.”
That’s right! Gun control advocates want to put $10 Million of taxpayer money towards enforcement of the soon to be found unconstitutional ban on commonly owned firearms.
Who will the ISP find to serve on these task forces?
How will they pursue Illinois Gun Owners? Only time will tell. All we know is that they are coming, and it’s time for Illinois Gun Owners to unite against this kind of government overreach.
They won’t stop writing useless gun laws that don’t make anyone safer until we stop them! They are pushing towards confiscation. Join the ISRA, chip in for our lobbying and litigation funds, come to IGOLD.

FOID CARD AND ILLINOIS CONCEALED CARRY LICENSE (ICCL) RENEWALS
We’ve been getting calls about what happens when people renew their FOID card and ICCL at the same time. It is critical that you always renew your FOID card first. If you do not renew your FOID card first, the system will not work.
I would recommend that you renew your FOID card at least one month before you renew your ICCL online, or a minimum of 4 weeks before my ICCL.
It is also important to be sure your drivers license is up to date, before you try to renew your FOID or your ICCL. This also takes some time to get throught the Secretary of State’s system.
This does NOT mean that you cannot take your ICCL renewal class first. You should take the class and get your ICCL renewal certificate and keep it ready when your FOID card is renewed.
Be very careul when you are entering your information and answering all the questions on the FOID and the ICCL renewal applications. If you are not careful with these steps,, it can turn your renewal into a train wreck!
FIREARM OWNERSHIP & SPORTS SHOOTING PARTICIPATION SURVEY REVEALS AMERICAN FIREARM USE.
The Firearm Industry Trade Association, released their Firearm Ownership & Sport Shooting Participation 2022 report. The adult participation in sport shooting in America has grown from 34 million to over 63.5 million from 2009 to 2022. The most popular types of recreational sports shooting were handgun target shooting at 16.9 percent, rifle target shooting at 15.6 percent and outdoor range target shooting at 13.3 percent. Safe and responsible firearm ownership goes hand-in-hand with regular participation in the shooting sports.
ALASKA BOROUGH URGES RESIDENTS TO GET AMMO AND ARM THEMSELVES.
An Alaskan regional government is urging its residents to be armed and ready, linking the need to rely on the Second Amendment to an increase in crime and a lack of state troopers. Last year there were 11 vacancies in the patrol detachment covering the region. The sprawling borough is located northeast of Anchorage.
Officials urge their residents and other communities in America to be armed, noting the importance of safety courses and firearms training. The first defense is always going to be yourself.
Volunteering for the ISRA is the best way to make a difference. I know our cause is one you believe in, and one of the best ways to help that cause is to volunteer. Our greatest strength is in our numbers. Little gets done by one or two people acting alone. Coordinated volunteering amplifies the efforts of those banding together and makes volunteering more effective. A side benefit of volunteering gets you involved with like-minded people and builds strong relationships and new friends.
Volunteering for the ISRA provides a resource that money alone cannot buy: The people needed to get the job done to accomplish the goals we set out to achieve. Volunteering provides valuable services so the limited funds that we have available can be spent in the areas where needed.

We will be accumulating these forms over the next few months, although we will be utilizing them as soon as we can. This may not happen perfectly, but we will make every effort to make it happen.

Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) will be on Thursday, April 18th this year. If your gun club, gun shop, hunting group and/or organization is thinking about bringing a bus to IGOLD with your members, NOW is the time to plan it.
If you are bringing a bus, please let us know by April 1st. The bus parking and shuttle bus will have to be paid for in advance.

January 25, 1905 – The world’s largest diamond was found in Pretoria, South Africa. The diamond was 3106 carats or 1.33 pounds. Eventually cut into 9 large diamonds and 100 small ones, with a combined value equaling millions of dollars. The largest one is called the “Star of Africa I” or “Cullinan I”. The “Cullinan I” is mounted in the British Sovereign’s Royal Scepter and weighs 530 carats, while the “Star of Africa II” or “Cullinan II” at 317 carats, is mounted in the Imperial State Crown.
When shipping the “Star of Africa I” to England, it was put aboard a ship with several guards around it. But it was a fake. There was nothing in the box except a rock. The real diamond was shipped in an unmarked box, thus avoiding the theft of the diamond. Before cutting the diamond the first time, the diamond cutter recalculated his measurements several times, after studying it for months. When it was finally successfully cut, he collapsed from exhaustion.
January 26, 1926 – John Logie Baird demonstrates the television for the first time. The Scottish inventor had been working off research done as early as 1884, so the TV is not as new as we thought it was.
In 1928, Baird made his first overseas broadcast from London to New York over phone lines, and the same year demonstrated color television. The first home television receiver was demonstrated in Schenectady, New York on January 20, 1928, and by May a station began occasional broadcasts to a handful of homes that were given the General Electric-built televisions. In 1932, RCA demonstrated an all-electronic version of the television using a cathode-ray tube. By 1936, public broadcasts were being transmitted in England.
January 27, 1888 – The National Geographic Society is founded.
January 28, 1915 – The first American merchant ship is sunk. The William P. Frye, loaded with wheat was headed for England when the German Navy sank it. This infuriated the Americans, which began turning the tide against Germany, in World War I.
January 28, 1986 – The space shuttle Challenger explodes after liftoff. Schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe would have been the first civilian to go into space. She had won a contest that earned her a spot on the Challenger. The concerted pressure from the American press to get the space shuttle launched, contributed to its fatal explosion.
January 29, 1820 – King George III of Great Britain dies. King George had been the American nemesis during the Revolutionary War.
January 30, 1835 – President Andrew Jackson becomes the first American president to experience an assassination attempt. Richard Lawrence, an unemployed house painter, approached Jackson after a funeral and attempted to shoot him. But the gun misfired. The 67-year-old president confronted his attacker and clubbed him several times with his walking stick. Lawrence pulled out a second pistol and tried to shoot the president again, but it also misfired. As the saying goes, when it’s your day, it’s your day and when it’s not, it’s not!
January 31, 1950 – President Harry Truman announces the development of the hydrogen bomb. The hydrogen bomb was successfully tested on November 1, 1952. German-born Klaus Fuchs, a top-ranking U.S nuclear scientist, was spying for the Soviet Union and informed the Soviets about the bomb, and the United States plans for the bomb. Three years later, on November 1955, the Soviet Union detonated is first hydrogen bomb.

We are glad to announce that we will have an M1 Maintenance Class scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at the ISRA Range in Bonfield, IL.
We have a highly qualified instructor, Larry Collinson, who has been with Springfield Armory for a long time. Mr. Collinson is an expert on the M1 Rifle. You will learn to take apart, clean, reassemble, and maintain your M1 Garand Rifle during this class. The class size is limited to 32 people. The cost is $65 (ISRA member) and $110 (non-member). Lunch will be provided. If you have special dietary needs, you will need to provide your own lunch. There will be no walk-ins allowed.
