Regarding the issue of the State’s efforts to stay the injunction entered by Judge McGlynn on April 28, 2023, in Harrel v. Raoul, we have a Response Brief due in the U.S. District Court for Southern Illinois due on May 8, 2023.  We also have another Response Brief due in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals on May 9, 2023, regarding the emergency stay issued yesterday by that Court. We will be asking the Seventh Circuit to vacate yesterday’s emergency stay and deny the actual motion for stay.

In addition, the Seventh Circuit has requested input from all involved parties on whether or not to consolidate Harrel and the other cases from the Southern District with the similar Herrera case from the Northern District of Illinois. Our written position on the issue is due by May 11, 2023.

The ISRA and others in our Harrel lawsuit will continue our efforts to expedite the proceedings so that the rights of law-abiding citizens can be restored as soon as possible.
