Executive Director’s Message Richard Pearson Election 2024 Once again, law abiding gun owners, and their firearms are being attacked because authorities failed to act in obviously dangerous situations. As far back as 2023, the FBI had the Georgia school shooter on their watchlist. The FBI alerted local authorities who went and interviewed the shooter and his family but did nothing. The parents too did nothing. I don’t know about you, but I’m personally tired of getting all these laws jammed down our throat every time authorities do nothing parents do nothing or others do nothing and somehow it winds up being our fault. In just slightly under two months there will be an election which will determine the course of this country forever. It won’t be just the next 50 years. It will be forever. The image to the left shows the current vote on Senate Bill 2226, as of Friday morning, January 6. Deceptively labeled “Amusement Ride Safety,” this is the Left’s preferred method of sneaking through a bill that should more aptly be titled “Bending and ignoring the constitution in an effort to take away your Second Amendment rights to bear arms in Illinois.”

At the time of this photo, we had 64 people senators voting in favor of taking away your rights (green), and 43 standing up for your rights by opposing the bill (red). There were eleven “no votes.”

The Illinois State Government Wants you to Surrender to Criminals who don't Follow the Rules

HB5855 is a perfect example of what the anti-gun crowd wants. They are not hiding their intentions. HB5855 is not about fighting crime. None of these anti-gun bills have been about fighting crime but rather, they have been about disarming the American people. HB5855 and other bills like it are aimed directly at the law-abiding citizens. In fact, it is a hate crime against law-abiding gun owners.

In this bill, the firearms listed and the features that can be put on firearms that they want to ban are the best self-defense firearms and make self-defense easier. The semiautomatic AR15s, shotguns, or pistols are the best for self-defense, target shooting, and hunting. The great thing about the Second Amendment is that it applies to everyone, rich and poor alike. HB5855 would, if passed, make life even tougher for those people who are economically disadvantaged, or live in bad neighborhoods in Chicago and other cities around the state.

These folks live among drug dealers, gangbangers, and criminals of all types. Some people say, ”Well just move away.” Oh yeah, and just where would that be? That isn’t so easy. The passing of HB5855 or similar bills would make everyone easy prey but the economically disadvantaged would be affected most of all.

Hunters are attacked by animal rights activists – and the law protects the activists.

Public hunting lands, purchased by special taxes imposed on hunters, are now closed to those same hunters.

Mayors and other politicians whose policies have caused segments of our society to go out of control blame gun owners for their failures.

Radical anti-gun organizations partnering with major news media seek to make gun ownership, sport shooting, hunting, collecting, and self-defense illegal or impossible.

The mission of the ISRA Academy is to promote firearm safety and excellence in marksmanship by providing training and other educational opportunities to all law-abiding gun owners in Illinois.

In 1903, the year of inception of ISRA, the Education & Training Committee was formed with the sole purpose of providing civilians an opportunity to learn and practice shooting skills so they would become proficient marksmen if later called on to serve in the U.S. military.
