DESCRIPTION:September 11-13th\, 2026 \nTeaching and Learning \nTeaching is one side of the coin and Learning is the other side.  You as the instructor are responsible for both during your class. This instructor development class will help learn to be  flexible and agile in your plan so that you will meet the needs of your students. This is your job.  You need to insure that they take away both what you have to say and what they are needing to hear.  Your knowledge of equipment\, techniques\, planning\, observation skills\, accuracy\, and your ability to develop their competence  and confidence is what will lead them to success.  You will learn how to identify their challenges\, why those exist and how to fix them.  Join us for a thorough class to develop and enhance your instructing skills. \nCourse Objectives:  To develop a solid base of understanding and knowledge of firearms\, training curriculum\, range management and instructing skills for women interested in becoming serious firearms instructors for other women.  And address the challenges women have with firearms training and equipment and how to solve them.  There will be classroom time for discussion and interaction with instructors and students along with live fire range time. \nCourse Goals:  To build a depth of knowledge of\, and familiarity with\, firearms and the skills for safe handling and safe and accurate use of firearms for range training with an eventual goal of concealed carry.  \nWhat to bring: \nHandgun with appropriate ammunition (400 rounds) \nHolster for any handguns (Belt for the holster\, pants with belt loops for the holster) \nWarp around safety glasses \nEar protection\, plugs and/or muffs \nBaseball style hat \nRain gear and layers for warmth and weather changes \nHydration \nSunscreen \nTopic will include but may not be limited to: \n1.  Safety Rules \n2.  Equipment \nHandguns (semi-auto and revolver) and their operating systems  \nHolsters\, belts \nWhat equipment works for women and what does not work for women and why \nAccuracy\, hitting the intended spot on the target \nWhat is really happening when students are “missing” their intended spot on the target \nWhy the “missing” of the intended spot is happening \nHow to fix that “missing” of the intended spot on the target \n3.  Range Management \nSafety Rules  \nRange Safety Rules \nTargets \nCommands \nChallenges on the range \n 4.  Instructing \nKnow you audience \nKnow your material \nHow women learn and why it is different from how men learn \nWhy women wanted to know “why” \nTeaching/Learning are inter-dependent \nSetting Goals and Objectives for your classes \nWill you always succeed? \nAre there ever problem students? \n5.  Concealed Carry \nTraditional \nFlexCCarry® (Off-body) Solutions \nSign up here: defense-training.com/schedule \nInstructor: Vicki Farnham
