The major Supreme Court decisions we are seeing are thanks to former President Donald Trump. We can all tell how important they are by the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the leftists in Congress, the media, and pundits. With all these decisions, the fight is not over. The well-funded socialists and communists on the left will attack in different ways. I believe there will be an attempt to pack the Supreme Court or destroy its credibility in some way. It is the left that must be destroyed along with their front groups and funding sources. George Soros comes to mind but there are many more. This is going to get ugly, I believe.

The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled in favor of the gun owners in the New York Rifle and Pistol Association v Bruen. The Supreme Court has also ruled the Second Amendment is not a second class right and nowhere in the Second Amendment does it limit firearms to the home. The Majority Opinion was written by Justice Thomas.

We have been waiting for a ruling from the Illinois Supreme Court on the People v Vivian Claudine Brown case. The Brown case dealt with whether or not the FOID was unconstitutional in the home. The White County Circuit Court has ruled the FOID card is unconstitutional in the home. Because this case dealt with a constitutional question, the case went directly to the Illinois Supreme Court, skipping appellate courts. Today, Thursday June 16, 2022, the Illinois Supreme Court issued its ruling. The Court once again side stepped the question of the constitutionality of the FOID in the home and dismissed the case on procedural grounds. This is the judicial version of ring-around-the-rosy. The vote was 4-3 NOT to hear the case on the merits. The Brown case is remanded back to the White County Circuit Court. In short, we are back to square one. In closing, I will say while the FOID card issue is most important, the ruling is also terribly unfair to Ms. Brown. We will continue to fight on.

The NRA did as well as they could at the Annual Meeting which was held in Houston this past weekend considering the circumstances. The attendance was down but it was still over 64,000. Normally, it is around 80,000. There are lots of reasons it was down. Traveling these days is a pain in the pocketbook as well as the posterior extremity. The turmoil the NRA is going through undoubtedly played a part. The media also dutifully did their part to attack the Second Amendment and the NRA. All weekend, we were treated to pictures of hundreds of protesters although they really were there on Friday to protest President Trump. The number of protesters went from about 500 on Friday to 50 or 60 on Saturday. Some were undoubtedly bankrolled by anti-gun billionaires.

Mossberg International, Inc. (“Mossberg”) has recently discovered a potential safety issue with certain Mossberg International Model SA-410 Shotguns which may lead to personal injury and/or damage to the shotgun. Mossberg is voluntarily initiating a product safety recall to protect the safety of its customers because if a user prematurely releases a shotshell while loading or unloading, the unretained shotshell could potentially contact the Bolt Lock Button inside the loading port and detonate.
