Happy New Year. The year 2021 was full of challenges. We should take a moment to remember those we have lost, celebrate the new friends we have met and take stock of what we have learned.
The New Year, 2022, will also be full of challenges, new friends and new opportunities to learn. Let's all make the best of them.

Chatsworth, IL – Illinois State Rifle Association Executive Director has been tapped to serve on the Board of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today filed an important amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court supporting a challenge of New York State’s restrictive concealed carry permitting scheme by the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association.
Only a small number of pistols appear to be affected, but Ruger is asking owners of Ruger-57 pistols to perform a routine function check of the safety lever.

Chatsworth, IL – White County Resident Judge T. Scott Webb has ruled Illinois’s FOID card law unconstitutional, paving the way for the Illinois Supreme Court to take up the issue, according to Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association.
The case is The People of Illinois vs. Vivian Claudine Brown. In March of 2017, Brown was accused of possessing a firearm without a FOID card. In dismissing the charges against Brown, Judge Webb also ruled the FOID card unconstitutional.
Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) State Director, Colleen Callahan has officially notified the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) that the US Open Trapshooting Tournament (June 2-6) and The Grand American and AIM Youth Championships (July 30-August 14) will be allowed to take place at IDNR's World Shooting and Recreational Complex (Sparta, IL) this year.
The Illinois State Rifle Association has been asked to partner with the Firearms Policy Coalition of California and the Second Amendment Foundation of Washington (who we have successfully partnered with in McDonald v. Chicago and Ezell v. City of Chicago, among others) in pursuing the potential challenges:
Because of the restrictions on crowd size, the inability to obtain parade permits and highly restricted entry into the Illinois State Capitol and other government buildings, the Illinois State Rifle Association is forced to postpone IGOLD until 2022. The date is set for Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
