As a law abiding firearm owner, I stand opposed to regulations
establishing a minimum age for acquiring a FOID card. Such a
regulation would not reduce crime or accidental injuries. Rather, a
minimum age requirement would damage Illinois’ hunting heritage;
place a huge financial burden on rural gun owners who would have to
meet urban gun storage requirements; and deny young people access
to firearm safety training. I ask that you reject any regulatory proposal
that establishes a minimum age for FOID. Please forward my opinion
to the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR).
